All 22 Pokémon tier list

Every Pokémon ranked by what it adds to your Team Score in the All 22 Pokémon football game, at the position where it helps most. Built from the game's own position-fit formula, not from how strong a Pokémon is in the main games.

The original 151 with Legendaries, as in the 151 Challenge and the Kanto Fantasy Draft.

Each tile shows the Pokémon's best spot and its fit there (0–100). Tap one for its fit at every position.

Questions

What is the best Pokémon in All 22 Pokémon?

In the original 151 it is Mewtwo at quarterback (fit 88.9). It adds about three times as much to the Team Score as the next pick, Golem, because quarterback counts for 24% of the offense and no other Kanto Pokémon comes close there. Across all 1,025, Koraidon at defensive end is first.

Why are Pikachu and Charizard so low?

The game rates stats, size and type, not popularity. Pikachu's highest fit anywhere is 46.9 at slot receiver; Charizard's highest fit anywhere is 72.5 at wide receiver; Gengar's highest fit anywhere is 71.2 at wide receiver. Pikachu is too small and light for anything but the speed spots, and faster Pokémon take those. Charizard and Gengar make decent receivers, but Kanto already has faster ones (Mewtwo, Aerodactyl, Jolteon), so neither adds much over the receivers you would start anyway.

How is this tier list made?

Every Pokémon is placed at the spot where it helps most: how much its position fit beats the best Pokémon who would otherwise sit on the bench there, times how much that spot counts toward the Team Score. The list is sorted by that number and cut into tiers by rank. It uses the game's own fit formula, the same one the rest of this guide shows.

Does the tier list change with the formation?

A little. It is ranked for a 3-4 defense and a fullback offense, the game's default. A 4-3 defense makes tackles out of two of the 3-4 linebacker spots and a slot offense swaps the fullback for a slot receiver, which moves some linemen and receivers up or down a few places but not the S tier.
